Jesus, as he was dealing with Peter's rationale about taking in unclean food, said to Peter that it is not what goes into a person that defiles him or her. It is what comes out of that person which defiles him or her (Matthew 15:11, Mark 7:15). Jesus, while taking on the issue at hand spoke Kingdom knowledge that only those who have his spirit will understand (1 Corinthians 2:14). So let me break this down for you.
There is nothing on this earth that God created that can corrupt you. Yes the enemy is roaring LIKE a lion but he is NOT a lion. He is just a serpent who's head has been destroyed. What Jesus is saying is that no matter what is presented to you... it does not have the ability to defile you. it only defiles you when you allow anything opposite of what God says to take root inside of you (James 1:15) and then what you have taken in...becomes you and then you act on it which defiles you by destroying you. What you speak from the mouth (an action) has power to kill you or elevate you. Your decision to act on things that are not of God is what defiles you and when a person acts on those things the action followed what that person spoke outwardly in private or publicly. The things God created will never defile you.
2 Corinthians 10:5 tells us to cast down any imagination/thought that exalts itself against the knowledge of God and bring it into captivity unto the obedience of Christ. This passage of scripture lets us know that all sorts of things will be presented to us... which means it has entered our minds. What are we to do with it once it is presented to us, particularly anything that rejects God's way? The scripture tells us we have the power and authority to CAST that thought/imagination down...bringing it into CAPTIVITY unto the obedience of Christ. What this means is what tried to corrupt us will not see the light of day outside of us. In other words, it might have been presented to you... but you did not move on it... you cast it down and buried it! It did not defile you. And it got what was coming to it... death as you captured it and stomped on that serpent's head.
