Did the preacher offend you from the pulpit?
Unfortunately, some people have mistaken the conviction of God’s Holy Spirit (which is Love) for offense. You have been so offended by the word being shared... that you ran from that place because you were offended! You ran away from God’s Love which also rebukes and corrects (2 Timothy 4:1-2). You ran away because someone had the audacity to share a word that made you uncomfortable. You could not find fault with the word given... so you chose to find fault with the vessel God used to share His word.
This is what the Apostle Paul shared with Timothy and all who would be called and sent to share God’s word.
“For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.”
2 Timothy 4:3-4 NIV
