Jesus had a few choice words for the religious leaders of that day as they tried to discredit his ministry. In this passage of scripture Jesus describes with specificity the very nature of Satan. Satan is a liar and there is no truth in him.

The enemy’s only power is to present a lie... attempt to deceive... and pull people into the lie. Those who lie... those who attack your character with lies... those who are fluent in lying and spreading lies through gossip (seeds of discord) are doing the devil’s work in the earth (Ephesians 2:2-3, Ephesians 6:12)

If someone presents a lie, they mainly share that lie with others behind the scenes. They never bring the lie to the light to test whether it is true. The spirit of the antichrist works behind the scenes... away from the light... to kill, steal and destroy those who are walking in truth. If a lie is being spread about you, do not spend one moment chasing it. The intent of the lie is to pull you from walking in truth. The deception is about distracting you. The moment you attempt to fight the lie... you are exerting unnecessary energy in an area that did not need your energy. Use your energy to be who you are. If you are walking in truth... let your life speak for who you are. The defense against any lie about you is simply to live and keep walking in truth.

Lies change and twist... so if you get caught up in trying to chase the lie... you will take on the very nature of its movements. The lie is the bait. If you take it... your movements to catch it will look exactly like its movements to lead you away from who you really are. A serpent twists things. The tongue is venomous. The lie always shifts. Listen to a person speak and remember your conversations with them... if they constantly shift in telling a story be suspect.

The devil is always twisting, casting a shifting deception. Pay attention and do not get entangled in the lie. Keep living in truth and it is the truth that crushes the serpent’s head every step of the way on your journey. The revelation about your life, if you are walking in God’s truth, will be the rock that crushes any attempt by principalities to rise up against you.
