“Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.”
Revelation 12:10 NIV
This passage of scripture gives us an understanding of what the devil wants to consume a believer’s mind with. He operates in this way day and night through people who he can trust to hold deposits of people’s mistakes. Every mistake someone makes on this journey... is a deposit made in the person who just can’t let it go and forgive the person who has asked for forgiveness. The person with all these deposits become weighted down and is drowning in bitterness and self righteousness.
Forgiveness is the valve that releases the deposits to the Dead Sea the moment an attempt is made to make it become a part of your DNA.
“Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how many times could my brother sin against me and I forgive him? As many as seven times? ” “I tell you, not as many as seven,” Jesus said to him, “but 70 times seven.”
Matthew 18:21-22 HCSB
The one who sins against you is not off the hook because you let it go. That person must seek forgiveness to get off the hook. Your forgiveness is about releasing you from the chains that are trying to make you a vessel the enemy can use to accuse people of their mistakes, even those who have repented (2 Peter 3:9) and their current life does not reflect their past life.
The deposits of people’s mistakes in you without any release... keeps you in the past. Life is to be lived in the present. We can not move in the present when we are weighted down with the dirty baggage of other folks missteps. You can’t take a step forward towards goodness... when those unreleased deposits have made you a constant accuser of the brethren.
