14 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15 It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve." 2 Corinthians 11:14-15
This passage of scripture deals with wolves calling themselves teachers of things of the Kingdom. As we go deeper with God, we will see the works of the devil masquerading as a presenter of truth. Some of those who are being used by him honestly, in some cases, believe they are speaking truth, but they too are being deceived. The enemy is always looking for a way in to confuse people. For those who are saved, the enemy will attempt to create stumbling blocks in your life that he hopes will produce bitterness/unforgiveness, hate, strife, fear, anxiety, depression, and so much more. He is banking on the fact that he can create these hurts that we do not get resolved so we can internalize it and operate from that position as a saint. So now he can present scripture that justifies how we feel... and how we treat other people. The masquerading as an Angel of Light means he will give you a half truth that deals with others, but he will never give you the whole truth which removes the seed that has impacted you in such a way that you remain bitter, unforgiving, depressed, fearful, angry and so much more. He will never expose a part of him that has been implanted in our minds. He wants us to process the word of God from his position... NOT the position of God which frees us from this bondage. There are many believers who have unresolved issues and have internalized these things and are now sharing the word of God as teachers of the word... yet they are not operating from a place of freedom.
We must examine ourselves every second of the day and ask God to create in me a clean heart. This is a daily thing we must do, otherwise the enemy will take up shop in us and we are not even aware of it as we now share the truth from a position of brokenness that has not been delivered or healed by the word of God just yet. This is why we have people who are always sharing the word with a way of pointing at others and what they are doing wrong. This is the plank that must be removed before we can remove the speckle of dust from our brother or sister's eye.
We must remember that we are on a recovery mission for souls. We are not on a condemnation mission. That will happen when Jesus returns. But for now it is our job to operate in a recovery of souls mindset. We can not be effective in recovering souls when we have not been freed from those things we have internalized that now form the foundation for how we process the word of God. This is a dangerous place to be. We must walk in grace.
(Walking in Grace/Love - 1 Cor. 13:4-8/ Not a stumbling block to other souls - Matthew 18:7)
This is what it means to walk in the perfect law of liberty. But it begins with making sure we are free from the things that hurt us. We do not want to share the gospel from a place of hurt. We should share the gospel from a place of freedom. And in that moment... others will be set free from the experience that set us free.
