Love is not about feelings. This is what people do to blame someone else for making them feel the way they feel.
Love is about your WORD! Is your word trustworthy? That puts the responsibility of love on the one who says he/she loves?
So what do you lean on to make a decision to love? Your feelings? That's the wrong thing to base your word on. Why?
Romans 8:6-8
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
Your feelings are stimulated by what you see, touch, taste, smell. This is Carnal Nature... and it is Hostile to God. It wants no part of God or what He says. So when you base your decision to love on something that dies.. then you have now established that your word can not be trusted.
But when you base your decision to love on what God says love is... and commit to what He says love is found in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.
Whoemever you choose to love can trust that you will love them on their worst day. Your love is your word and your word, if tied to God who is life, will last forever. That person's worst day or days will challenge how you feel... but your word is more important than how you feel. Your word is all you really have and if no one can trust your word... then why should that person give you his/her heart to begin with?
Love is a choice. So what you decide to base that decision on speaks to what leads you right now.
Whenever God defines something for us. The definition can only be understood if we have His spirit and are led by Him. God is a spirit and He is love...therefore we can not take what He defines as love and try to apply it to something that is hostile to him (Romans 8:7)... THE FLESH (CARNAL NATURE). Carnal nature definitions of love are confusing and always never lasts. You can bank on that.
