You use illusions when you believe in your own illusions. For example... I can hear the word of God... but not DO what the word of God says... yet I have the illusion that I am a superior Christ Follower... and then believe what I have sold myself. But all the while, others see what I heard and they also see what I do is not lining up with what I heard. Those who are fooling themselves will think they are fooling those who are actually hearers and doers of the word. But the hearers and doers of the word see the illusion you believe about yourself. They see you believe it... but they know the truth and that truth has set them free from the illusion you are trying to get them to believe about who you think you are as opposed to who you really are in the eyesight of God. The one who believes the illusion is the only one in the dark.
James 1:23-24
23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
