Your Endorsement/Anointing of someone or some thing means you are all in with it!

As a Pastor we are taught by the Holy Spirit not to quickly put our name on someone or a movement. Not to quickly ordain someone or something as God inspired. We are taught to watch the person who has indicated he/she is called and sent to do God's work before we follow the process of ordination. Ordination is the process of you vouching for the person or movement.

When I read Acts 6:3, the model that the 12 disciples used to identify others who would assist in the work of the church, required wisdom from God and eyes that were truly able to identify the type of people with the right character to receive the endorsement of these chosen holy men.

3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

While this passage specifically speaks to identifying those who would assist in the work of the Church, the wisdom from this process can be used in how we operate in other areas of our life with our endorsements of people.

God wants us to be careful about our endorsement/ordination of people. Therefore in this passage of scripture the things to look for before ordaining that person is he/she must have a reputation of being honest, full of the Holy Ghost (only comes after repentance), and wisdom (Proverbs 4:7). These are the things we are to look for before ordaining/endorsing the person. When we ordain a person who has not exhibited what verse 3 indicates, then that will call into question our very own faith walk. That will put a blemish on what we say we believe. Our decision making will be called into question when we do not apply verse 3 in every situation. This requires us to silent while we observe the person. Let the person show you who they are... and if what they are showing you is not anything of verse 3... then we are not to ordain/endorse the person who is seeking you to ordain him/her. To many people have destroyed their testimony for Christ because they have ordained someone who did not exhibit the characteristics found in verse 3.

The same goes for all Christ Followers. Before you put your name on someone, please understand that the person will now represent your name because you have given your approval. Make sure you have followed the wise counsel of the word of God found in this passage of scripture.
