Focus on Family - The Flock - Part 2
When we have a family we must be able to identify who are shepherds, who are sheep, who are shepherd dogs, who are goats, who are wolves and who are hirelings.
The true family is on one accord and that would be called a fold. We must determine who is part of the fold and then determine what is preventing them from getting on one accord and becoming a part of the fold. This has been a point of frustration for many people as they look within their own families trying to understand what is going on with family members. The blood tie is strong when you have not been fully delivered from it. We don't take time to identify what is going on with certain individuals in the spirit because our blood tie is so strong that you assume the person who comes from "my flesh" can not be a bad apple.
Today, I want to focus on a goat which is in the flock of sheep. The characteristics of a goat gives us insight into how a good shepherd deals with the goat. We must remember that the goat is not a sheep. So you have to treat a goat like a goat. If you think a goat can be like a sheep, then you will continuously bash your head against the wall expecting a different outcome... but getting the same result.
A goat is strong minded... has a haughty behavior pattern and as much as you may try to get it to fall in line... it always does what it wants to do because it is strong minded and haughty. The good shepherd can spend all day tending to the goat... but the goat will reject the direction the shepherd is leading because the goat is going to do what it wants to do. The goat will eat anywhere and nearly anything that satisfies its appetite at that moment. It will run everywhere and anywhere despite the voice of the shepherd trying to lead it back. The goat is a goat. And you can't turn a goat into a sheep. The two are different creatures. When you understand that you may have a goat in your family, pray for the goat... but don't waste time trying to get the goat to conform to the shepherds voice. It is written that "MY SHEEP KNOW MY VOICE." Jesus did not say my sheep and goats know my voice. He said my sheep. And he said sometimes his sheep will stray... and it is up to the good shepherd to track down that one sheep. The sheep will come back and follow. But sometimes the sheep will stumble and get lost from the fold. But when the sheep hear's the shepherd's voice... there is no tug of war to get the sheep to come back to its rightful place in the fold.
Many people are trying to treat a goat in their family like a sheep. And as hard as this may be... you have to call a goat a goat when you see it for what it is in the spirit. Spend your time and energy on sheep. In part 3 I will focus on the sheep.
